Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center offers free educational summer programs. Guided walks at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. start from the north main parking lot trailhead. Nature presentations occur throughout each day. Check at the information kiosk in the Visitor and Nature Center for details. Weekly evening programs include bat walks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning June 16; prairie falcon walks Wednesdays; and Magpie Players, a group of costumed visitor center staff and volunteers presenting a half-hour program at 4:45 p.m. Thursdays. Also planned for this summer are: “wildlife watch” programs, insect walks, geology walks, photography walks, wildflower walks and bird walks. 719-219-0108
Lake City arts fest.
The Third Street Market, an open-air market with a wide array of Lake City artwork, is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Lake City every Saturday through Sept. 26. Artisans are full- or part-time residents of Lake City or Hinsdale County. New this year: Some artisans also set up in downtown Lake City from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays.
