U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter called Tuesday for hearings to examine the processes used by Chrysler and General Motors to shut down dealerships across the country.
A letter from the Colorado Democrat asks two committee chairmen, Reps. Barney Frank, D-Mass., and John Conyers, D-Mich., to hold a hearing to explore the impacts of the restructuring plans. Terminations for 789 Chrysler franchisees, including 14 in Colorado, took effect Tuesday.
“Hearing from the companies, dealers and other affected parties will help bring to light the areas where the path forward can be improved,” Perlmutter said in his letter.
