BOULDER, Colo.—It’s called the World Naked Bike Ride but Boulder police insist they’ll ticket anyone exposing too much of themselves in Saturday’s annual event.
Police Chief Mark Beckner says he supports the rights of community members to protest, but also says police are responsible for enforcing the state’s indecent exposure law. Anyone who ends up being convicted of the misdemeanor offense could have to register as a sex offender.
Last year about 60 people took to the streets in Boulder with chants that included “Burn fat, not oil” and “drop pants, not bombs.”
Organizers say the ride demonstrates the vulnerability of cyclists on the road and is a protest against oil dependency.
