Track-and-field star Jenny Barringer of the University of Colorado was named one of five finalists for the Honda-Broderick Cup as NCAA female athlete of the year.
Barringer, a four-time Big 12 Conference indoor track athlete of the year, concluded her college career last week by capturing her third 3,000-meter steeplechase NCAA title. She holds six NCAA records and carries a 3.54 grade-point average.
The other finalists are Penn State volleyball player Nicole Fawcett, Georgia gymnast Courtney Kupets, Washington softball player Danielle Lawrie, and Renee Montgomery of Connecticut basketball.
The winner will be named Monday at New York’s Columbia University.
