The Colorado Mountain Club will host a celebration of mountaineering Saturday and Sunday at the American Mountaineering Centerand in the mountains too.
The Mountain Fest is designed to offer something to mountain enthusiasts whether they are beginners, experts or families. Information booths at the AMC the first day will offer tips on hiking and packing with llamas, introduction to rock climbing, mountain photography, lightning safety, basics of GPS, wildflower identification and mountain geology.
Second-day activities include a hike up Quandary Peak in Summit County, a Father’s Day breakfast ($8 for adults, $6 for children) at the AMC which includes a free ticket to the American Mountaineering Museum, CMC hikes on Front Range trails and trail maintenance projects.
Mountain Fest tickets cost $15 for non- members, $10 for members. The American Mountaineering Center is located at 710 10th St. in downtown Golden.
