AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo.—Four Air Force Academy cadets and an assistant professor saved three people from drowning while on a trip to Central America.
Academy Spanish instructor Victor Nell says he and 13 cadets were swimming in the Pacific Ocean along Panama’s Santa Clara beach June 7 when two women and a man were struggling and calling for help.
Nell says he, Cadets 3rd Class Ben Garoutte and Bryan Koenig rescued the women.
Cadets 3rd Class Derrick Rowe and Allan Foote then helped a man who was screaming that he was drowning.
The cadets were attending a foreign language academy in Panama and were scheduled to return to Colorado Springs Friday.
