COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The Colorado Springs City Council will consider allowing residents to get permits to shoot and kill coyotes.

The council will consider an ordinance Monday in response to concerns about aggressive coyotes.

State and Denver-area city officials launched public education campaigns about living with coyotes after a rash of conflicts this spring. Wildlife officers and a private contractor killed more than 10 coyotes after people were bitten.

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says Colorado Springs should try other means of dealing with coyotes first.
