A 26-year-old woman has turned herself in to police, who were looking for her on suspicion of having killed a pedestrian with her car.
Nadine Nicole Montoya, also known as Nadine Carter, turned herself into Westminster police Wednesday. She was turned over to Denver police, who are seeking to have her charged with first-degree murder.
Denver police said they believe Montoya was the driver of a car that ran over and killed Lilian Verdonkschot, 49, who was walking in the parking lot of the Burger King Restaurant at 6th Avenue and Broadway in the early morning hours of Friday, May 29.
Police said the car drove away after the accident but that their investigation led them to believe Montoya was the driver. She is being held in Denver without bond during the investigation.
Police initially arrested another woman in the case, but she was released two days later.
