MINNEAPOLIS—Minnesota men’s hockey assistant Mike Hastings has resigned to take the associate head coach job at Nebraska-Omaha.

Gophers coach Don Lucia made the announcement on Wednesday. Hastings spent one year at Minnesota. Lucia says Nebraska-Omaha coach Dean Blais told Hastings that he would have “a great chance to replace him down the line.”

Lucia says he will conduct a national search and hopes to fill Hastings’ spot by the middle of next month. In the mean time, volunteer assistant Grant Potulny will serve as an interim assistant coach.
