Getting your player ready...

“The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World” ($12.95, Adams Media) promises “Over 600 Secrets of the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom” from author Susan Veness, and skeptics like me are likely to start scoffing from Page 1. I used to live in Florida! I’ve been there a million times! I know everything about the place! But then I started to read it while sitting in my office, and by Page 4, was completely hooked and wishing I were there right now to check out some of her tips. Veness has compiled some great insider information. This isn’t where to go, see, do — this is the really cool stuff, such as the hidden locations of little-known peeking spots that offer cute or quirky views that you would never notice in your rush through the parks, or interesting back stories on why things were built the way they were. The book can enhance any adult’s appreciation of the place; for those precocious kids who love to know everything, this is a treasure trove.
