A former payroll clerk for the city of Denver was sentenced today to four years in prison for theft after stealing city workers’ identities to create bogus credit card and bank accounts.

Ray Taylor, 36, pleaded guilty earlier this year to felony theft and identity theft, according to a media release from the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

He also was ordered to pay just under $11,000 in restitution, prosecutors said.

Taylor worked for the city’s Career Service Authority.

He was accused of victimizing 18 city employees.
