A 22-year-old man who escaped Wednesday evening from Camp George West in Golden was captured late this morning in Evergreen.

Joshua Yapp was convicted of possession of a controlled substance in Park County and was serving a 36-month term at the minimum-security correctional center.

Ari Zavaras, executive director of the Colorado Department of Corrections, credited hard work by the Jefferson and Park County sheriff’s departments as well as work by DOC investigators for Yapp’s quick capture.

“We tracked him,” said DOC spokesperson Katherine Sanguinetti.

Yapp was apprehended about 11:25 a.m., by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.

Yapp, who is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds, was discovered missing from Camp George West about 10:05 p.m. Wednesday.
