LONGMONT, Colo.—A man flying a single-engine airplane crashed into a guardrail in a street next to a Longmont airport but was not seriously injured.
Vance Brand Municipal Airport manager Tim Barth says the man’s plane lost engine power as he tried to land. Barth says the plane was traveling about 25 mph when it crashed into a guardrail.
The plane was an ultra-light experimental aircraft.
The pilot’s name was not released. Barth says he was able to walk after the crash but he was taken to a hospital.
Barth says it’s “miraculous” there was no traffic on the street at the time of the crash. The pilot was the only one in the plane.
He says the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
