Today is the last day of the free 2009 Vail Arts Festival in Arrabelle Square in Lionshead, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival features watercolors, oil and acrylic paintings, woodworking, glass, sculptures, furniture, mosaics, ceramics, metal works, photography, jewelry, an interactive kids art tent, street entertainers, music and more. Music festivals.

The Colorado Music Alliance’s Summer Music Festivals listings feature “music in sublime concert settings ranging from Victorian opera houses to state-or-the-art tents and outdoor amphitheaters.” See the full schedule at .

Festivals include the Colorado Music Festival, now through Aug. 7, with highlights including the “Greatest Piano Concertos of All Time,” five concerts, five composers, five world- class guest artists, the American folk group Punch Brothers, featuring composer-singer-mandolin player Christ Thile and more; and the Strings Music Festival now through Aug. 21, with classical, jazz, world, Americana and family concerts, with highlights including Elmar Oliveira; Chee-Yun, the Neville Brothers, the Celtic band Leahy, pianist Jon Kimura Parker, Cuarteto Latinoamericano, Ruthie Foster and more.

Crested Butte sounds.

The Crested Butte Music Festival runs July 4-26 and includes opportunities to hear opera and symphonic music in addition to bluegrass. The Infamous Stringdusters will perform at 7:30 p.m. July 11 in the Ein- Lynch Barn. Individual adult tickets are $30; student tickets are $10. The Blue Canyon Boys will perform at 7:30 p.m. July 25 at the Center for the Arts in Crested Butte. Tickets are $30 for adults, $10 for students ages 6-18 with valid ID. Info: 970-349-0619 or .

National Repertory Orchestra.

The 50th-anniversary season of the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge opened June 19. Highlights of the season include: pianist Robert Thies, NRO 1997 alumnus, in the Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 3 with Joann Faletta as guest conductor, July 8; oboist Richard Kill- mer performing the Bach Double with an NRO violinist, July 15; Joseph Alessi, NRO 1980 alumnus, principal trombonist from the New York Philharmonic, performing Aug. 1; the return of Gerald Schwarz to the NRO, Aug. 5; and the closing of the season Aug. 7 with Emmanuelle Boisvert, NRO 1985 alumna, concertmaster of the Detroit Symphony, performing the Beethoven Violin Concerto. Silver Plume history.
