All-star pitcher Jason Marquis entered Saturday’s game with 17 consecutive scoreless innings. Marquis made it through the first inning unscathed, stretching his streak to 18, but gave up two runs in the second. The Rockies’ record is 20 consecutive scoreless innings, shared by Denny Neagle (2002) and Franklin Morales (2007).

Double time.

Todd Helton stroked a double to center in the sixth, leaving the first baseman four short of 500 in his career. Helton has 25 doubles this season, easily surpassing the 16 he hit in his injury-marred 2008 season.

Rookie on the run.

Dexter Fowler singled and stole second base in the first inning, marking his personal-best fourth consecutive game with a stolen base. Fowler’s 20 steals are a Rockies rookie record.
