DENVER—Contract talks for Colorado grocery workers are continuing, with Western Slope workers for Kroger Co. chains and Safeway having a chance to earn the same as Front Range workers.

Safeway is scheduled to negotiate with United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 again Friday, with contract extensions for unionized workers for Safeway and for Kroger’s King Soopers and City Market chains set to expire Aug. 15.

The union says Western Slope workers typically earn less than counterparts on the Front Range but that King Soopers and Safeway this week offered to change that.

UFCW Local 7 represents Colorado workers at Safeway, King Soopers and Albertsons. Albertsons hasn’t scheduled dates for more talks yet.
