DENVER—Defense officials say a decorated Fort Carson soldier has been killed while fighting in Afghanistan.
Sgt. 1st Class Jason J. Fabrizi of Seffner, Fla., died from wounds sustained when his mounted patrol was attacked in the Konar province of Afghanistan July 14. The attackers used rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire.
Defense officials said the 29-year-old was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team of the 4th Infantry Division from Fort Carson south of Colorado Springs.
Fabrizi joined the army in 1998 and served three tours in Iraq before getting deployed to Afghanistan in May.
