GRAND JUNCTION — Cox Newspapers has agreed to sell the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel to Kansas-based Seaton Publishing Co. for undisclosed terms. Atlanta- based Cox said the sale, which includes The Nickel shopper, is expected to become final in coming weeks.
Seaton Publishing, based in Manhattan, Kan., is a family-owned business that runs newspapers in Manhattan, Arkansas City and Winfield, Kan.; Alliance and Hastings, Neb.; Spearfish, S.D.; and Sheridan, Wyo.
A Seaton subsidiary, Grand Junction Media, will operate the Daily Sentinel and Nickel. Jay Seaton of the publishing family will move to Grand Junction and become executive vice president. Cox said the executive team at the Daily Sentinel will remain in place.
Cox announced last year it was selling most of its newspapers in Colorado, North Carolina and Texas.
