Art Santa Fe appears to be coming into its own. The international contemporary art fair, which returns next weekend for its ninth year, got a big boost when Art + Auction magazine gave it a half-page plug in its July/August issue.

Three dozen galleries, from as far away as Hong Kong and Bucharest, are expected to take part this year. Colorado will be represented by Denver’s Rule Gallery and Museum Works Galleries in Aspen.

“Art Santa Fe’s boutique style offers a perfect balance of breadth and intimacy, allowing visitors to speak to dealers and artists while experiencing a full range of art in a comprehensible context,” boasts the fair’s website.

The event, which is held at El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe, 1615 Paseo De Peralta, will run Friday, Saturday and July 26 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. $8. 505-988-8883 or .

Running the same weekend in Santa Fe will be the 58th Annual Traditional Spanish Market, featuring more than 300 artists. Viewing hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 26 in Santa Fe’s central plaza. Free. 505-982-2226 or spanish .
