A body found Saturday in the Poudre River is believed to be that of a missing 63-year-old man who was swept away after crashing his motorcycle earlier this month.

The Larimer County Coroner’s Office said it has tentatively identified the body as Dennis M. Schultz of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, and has notified the family as it makes further confirmation.

A passer-by spotted the body Saturday morning and called the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, which then contacted the Colorado State Patrol.

Trooper David Hall said rescuers recovered the body of an adult male matching Schultz’s description about a mile downstream from where he was reported missing.

A caller July 8 reported seeing a motorcyclist slide off the road and into the river in Poudre Canyon. The owner of the motorcycle was contacted by the Sheriff’s Office and said his father had borrowed it. Annette Espinoza, The Denver Post
