A body found today in the Poudre River may be that of a missing 63-year-old man who was swept away after crashing his motorcycle July 8.

The Colorado State Patrol said tonight that the Larimer County Coroner has tentatively identified the body as Dennis M. Schultz of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii and his family has been notified.

A passer-by noticed the body and called the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, which then contacted the Colorado State Patrol.

A caller initially reported seeing the motorcyclist slide off the road, go beneath a guardrail, then into the river in Poudre Canyon.

The registered owner of the motorcycle had been contacted by the Sheriff’s Office and said his father, Dennis Schultz, had borrowed it.
