There’s nothing quite as satisfying as finding a bargain — but the hunt itself can be a bit challenging. For AAA auto-club members, the search just got easier.

The auto club, which touts membership discounts at hotels, restaurants and even pharmacies, has released a free iPhone application that uses the gadget’s location technology to help users find nearby businesses that offer AAA discounts.

If you’re standing on a street corner in, say, downtown Denver, just a few quick taps will tell you that you’re steps away from several discounts you probably didn’t even know existed. One drawback of the system: It tells you about discounts where you are but doesn’t provide an easy way to find them where you’re going — a feature that would be particularly helpful for lodging.
