VAIL, Colo.—A Connecticut company is exploring building a biomass plant in Vail that could use trees killed by pine beetles to produce electricity and hot water.
The Vail Daily reports that Hayden Cary and King Paper Co. of Darien, Conn., is seeking a $30 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy for the plan. The proposal is still in the preliminary stages. Company managing director Andrew King declined to comment Friday.
