GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—A western Colorado man has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in the shooting death of his brother.
An attorney entered the plea Tuesday for 20-year-old Heath Johnston.
Johnston is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his brother, 26-year-old Sam Johnston.
Sam Johnston was shot in the back of the head with a shotgun in Rifle in December.
District Attorney Martin Beeson didn’t object to the insanity plea.
Heath Johnston was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. His next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 8.
