Denver Outlaws midfielder Dan Hardy has been named the Major League Lacrosse’s rookie of the year, the MLL said today.

Drafted eighth overall out of Syracuse, Hardy had eight goals and eight assists this season. He received 17 points in the voting, while teammate Max Seibald finished second with 15 points.

Hardy is the first Outlaw to win the award, which is based on votes by the MLL head coaches and general managers.

The top-seeded Outlaws next play Aug. 22 in the postseason semifinals against Boston. Winner plays in the championship game Aug. 23 against the Toronto-Long Island winner.
