CLEVELAND — Scott Hamilton plans to return to skating after more than five years off the ice as part of a benefit for the Cleveland Clinic in November.

The 51-year-old former Denver resident, who won the 1984 Olympic gold medal and is a four-time world champion, was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1997 and with a noncancerous brain tumor in 2004.

For the past nine years, Hamilton has staged “An Evening with Scott Hamilton and Friends,” and on Nov. 7 he will skate in the event at the Quicken Loans Arena.

Hamilton’s show has raised $10 million for his CARES Initiative at the Clinic’s Taussig Cancer Institute.
