Police are investigating a series of armed robberies, most along East Colfax Avenue, believed to be related.
In the robberies, a gunman — and one time a second gunman — enters stores and herds people to the back of the business, ordering clerks to empty cash registers and sometimes safes, Aurora police said in a media release.
The armed robber flees with cash stuffed into his pants pockets. Aurora and Denver detectives are investigating the robberies.
Authorities suspect that seven robberies — starting on July 18, with the most recent on Aug. 5 — were committed by the same suspect.
Police described him as a white man, between 22 and 30 years old, and about 170 pounds. He has long brown or blond hair and a goatee. In each robbery, he wore a bandana and sunglasses. The robber sometimes wore a blue-checked, long-sleeve shirt. He has an unknown type of tattoo on the left side of his neck.
Police said he has been armed with multiple weapons, including a semi-automatic handgun or rifle, and a pistol-gripped shotgun.
The second suspect, who assisted in one robbery, was armed with a large-caliber handgun.
Investigators believe two vehicles have been used in the robberies: an older-model white Buick Century, possibly with tinted windows; and a silver or gray pickup truck, unknown make, with tinted windows.
Police ask that anyone with information on the robberies call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
