A Fort Lupton woman faces a charge of vehicular homicide after a crash Saturday afternoon in Weld County.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, Angelica Bujanda, 35, was driving south on U.S. 85 in a 2004 Kia Sorento car carrying two passengers, when she tried to make a U-turn about 12:40 p.m. The Kia was hit from behind by a 1987 Honda Accord driven by Crystal Herman, 32, of Brighton.

Herman was pronounced dead at the scene, about 4 miles south of Fort Lupton. The Kia’s passengers — a 13-year-old and 7-year-old, both of Fort Lupton — sustained moderate injuries.

The State Patrol said Bujanda, who had minor injuries, was booked into the Weld County Jail facing charges including vehicular homicide, driving while license revoked as a habitual offender and driving while under the influence of alcohol. The Denver Post
