U.S. passenger airlines employed 6.3 percent fewer workers in June than in June 2008, according to data released Tuesday the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
The seven largest airlines cut their workforce by 7.8 percent in June compared with June 2008, while low-cost carriers increased employees by 1.9 percent and regional airlines reduced workers by 7.2 percent.
Data for Denver’s three largest airlines include: United, 47,902 employees in June compared with 54,457 in June 2008; Frontier, 4,880 compared with 5,459; and Southwest, 35,654 compared with 34,373.
