Lakewood police and West Metro Fire Rescue were investigating a two-fatality fire near West 14th Avenue and Pierce Street on Tuesday night.
Crews were called to the blaze, at 6770 W. 14th Ave., about 9 p.m. and after knocking down the flames discovered two bodies inside, said Cindy Matthews, a spokeswoman for West Metro Fire Rescue.
A 911 caller who reported the fire indicated that someone might be inside the burning home, Matthews said. Investigators were just beginning their investigation, so she could not comment on whom the people might be or how the fire started.
“We got the fire out pretty quickly, but at this point we can’t say where it started or what might have been a contributing factor,” she said.
The home is attached to eight other units, but none of them were damaged, she said. Joey Bunch, The Denver Post
