STANDISH, Mich. — Opponents dominated a town hall meeting Thursday on whether Guantanamo Bay terrorism suspects should be transferred to a maximum-security prison in rural Michigan.
Every speaker but one criticized the idea. Many were from outside the Standish area, while others were employees of the state prison who fear federal employes will take their jobs if the Guantanamo inmates are moved to Standish. The prison is the area’s top employer.
