Investigators looking into a fatal shooting in Adams County have found a woman they believe to be a witness who left the scene.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office had sought the public’s assistance in finding 32-year-old Levelle Patricia Valdez as part of its investigation into the death of 37-year-old Rick Bobian.
Bobian’s body was found at about 11:35 p.m. Sunday in the 6600 block of Julian Street after deputies were called to the area on reports of shots fired, said Sgt. Candi Baker, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
“Ms. Valdez is now in contact with detectives from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office,” Baker said.
After the shooting, the Sheriff’s Office said it did not believe Valdez was a suspect in the case.
The investigation is ongoing, Baker said, and the Sheriff’s Office did not release further details.
An April 2008 story in the Huerfano Journal referred to Valdez as Bobian’s girlfriend.
The Journal story was about Bobian running away from a work detail outside the Huerfano County Jail.
Bobian was serving a six-month jail sentence for marijuana possession and driving under the influence when he ran off, according to court records.
He was arrested a day later at Valdez’s Walsenburg home, according to , and Valdez was arrested at the time as an accessory to his escape.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 720-322-1313.
