SILVER CITY, N.M. — David Pesek passed for 254 yards and four touchdowns and Jahre Cheeseman rushed for 132 yards (95 in the first half) and two scores as Colorado Mines got its offense in gear in a 52-38 victory over Western New Mexico.

Adam Saur caught six passes for 111 yards and two TDs.

Nebraska-Kearney 45, Western State 13

KEARNEY, Neb. — The Lopers’ victory had a Colorado flavor as former Bear Creek High School standout Jake Spitzlberger threw a 99-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Kaiser (Broomfield), Centennial High product Zach Horan ran for 105 yards and Ryan Skogg of Heritage had three rushing touchdowns, all inside 5 yards.

The Lopers led 31-0 early in the second quarter.

Chadron St. 24, Adams St. 21

CHADRON, Neb. — The Eagles held off the Grizzlies as Adams State’s Sean McDougal threw two touchdown passes in the last 1:32, the second one with only five seconds left.

Adams State led 7-0 at halftime on Fabrice Nolen’s 60-yard fumble return.

But the Eagles scored 17 points in the third quarter and added a touchdown early in the fourth to lead 24-7.

Mesa State 51, New Mexico Highlands 7

LAS VEGAS, N.M. — Justin Applehans ran for 179 yards and a touchdown, and Griffin Chernoff caught five passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns as the Mavericks rolled over the Mustangs.

Mesa State quarterback Robert Felberg ran for two touchdowns (6 yards and 1 yard) in the first half and hooked up with Chernoff from the 22 in building a 21-0 halftime lead.

CSU-Pueblo 38, Fort Lewis 0

PUEBLO — The Thunderwolves scored five rushing touchdowns and held the Skyhawks to 115 total yards.

Jesse Lewis had 93 yards on 12 carries plus a TD, and Marquise Enoch rushed 13 times for 84 yards and a TD.
