One man was injured Friday night in a fire that spread quickly to the roof of a 12-unit building at Brookview Apartments in Fort Collins, authorities say.
Poudre Fire Authority firefighters were called to the two-story apartments at 1220 E. Stuart St. at 7:55 p.m. and saw flames and smoke coming from one of the apartments, fire Capt. Matt Housley said.
Within two minutes, the fire was upgraded to a two-alarm fire and more fire engines were called, Housley said. Seven minutes later, after firefighters spotted flames leaping from the roof, a third alarm was sounded and a total of 53 firefighters battled the blaze. One person received minor injuries while fleeing the fire, Housley said.
Fire and water damaged seven of the apartment units.
