The catch with legs can’t carry the Broncos the whole season, can it?

Brandon Stokley’s 87-yard, final-seconds, game-winning touchdown reception Sunday in the Broncos’ 12-7 victory over Cincinnati spilled over this week into continued conversation. “Did you see that catch?” The answer was likely yes, with the video replayed everywhere ad nauseam.

But what to call the catch?

“The Catch” is taken, by Dwight Clark, from the Joe Montana pass that won the 1981 NFC championship game for the 49ers.

Also off limits is “The Immaculate Reception,” taken by Franco Harris after he caught a tipped pass and ran for a touchdown to give the Steelers a oft-remembered 1972 playoff win over the Raiders.

Denver Post readers, in an online poll, decided what name they like best: “The Immaculate Deflection.”

It’s likely not the last word.
