A 36-year-old man whose home was described as a “haven” for neighborhood children has been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault on a child, according to Littleton police.
The suspect is Daniel Jay Eaton, who lives in the 700 block of West Prentice Avenue in Littleton, investigators said in a news release.
The investigation began after a neighbor of Eaton told police that her young daughter said “Dan” had inappropriately photographed and inappropriately touched a number of young girls who live in the neighborhood, according to Lt. Sean Dugan, police department spokesman.
The girls were interviewed, and they provided enough information for the filing of numerous sexual-assault charges, said Dugan.
Dugan said at least three young girls have been assaulted, but declined to be more specific given the on-going nature of the investigation.
According to witnesses, Eaton’s house was “a haven for parents to have their children play,” and many parents were shocked to learn that children had been molested, according to Dugan.
Dugan said investigators are asking anyone, particularly neighbors and former neighbors of Eaton, to come forward if they have similar information that may be relevant.
Littleton police ask that those with information contact Detective Krista Bunten at 303-795-3891.
Eaton is being held at the Arapahoe County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
