They call it a perfect fit. The Dumb Friends League is now using space in the Denver Pavilions as an off-site animal adoption site.

The store space opened up last year, and the Pavilions offered it to the adoption agency for free on a temporary basis. The Dumb Friends League brought in adoptable dogs and cats.

As luck would have it, the move paid off. “It’s a huge draw for us,” said Wendy Manning, marketing director for the Denver Pavilions.

Earlier this year, the Pavilions matched up the Dumb Friends League with one of its stores, Barkin’ Boutique and Bakery — an upscale pet store.

The animals brought in people and sales.

“A lot of times when people buy their dogs . . . they want to spend the money and make them pretty,” said the store’s owner, Joan Dougherty.

The partnership has benefited the animals as well. Adoptions and donations at the site are sky high. “It’s been wonderful,” said Tracy Koss, who runs the site. 9News
