A woman was taken to the hospital after a bull elk attacked her outside her house in the foothills west of Denver.
Colorado Division of Wildlife spokeswoman Jennifer Churchill said the 47-year-old woman was leaving her home in Evergreen on Tuesday morning and was attacked when she got out of her car to go back inside.
The woman called her husband, who called 911. Churchill said the woman’s injuries aren’t life-threatening, but she didn’t know her condition. Her name wasn’t released.
It’s mating season for elk and Churchill said it’s common for bulls to be more aggressive.
Wildlife officers looked for the elk but didn’t find it.
