An Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Department lieutenant and two civilian supervisors may face criminal charges for allegedly eavesdropping on their co-workers’ phone calls.
The sheriff’s office said Friday that three Arapahoe County Detention Center employees have been suspended, with pay and benefits.
The sheriff’s office said the three face potential felony charges of prohibited wiretapping and eavesdropping. Penalties for these charges include up to 18 months in prison and up to $100,000 in fines.
CBS4 reported Friday that the three employees were allegedly monitoring personal phone calls made and received by their co-workers for months.
The three are accused of using a feature on the jail’s internal phone system to listen to the calls, the TV station reported.
