The Rockies’ magic number for the playoffs is at three, with the team taking on the Brewers tonight at Coors Field. Any combination of Rockies victories and Atlanta losses totaling three guarantees a wild-card playoff spot.
As the team closes in on the playoffs, fans need to be thinking ahead to pre-register online for a chance to buy postseason tickets.
The deadline to register for the National League Divisional Series has already passed.
But the deadline to register for a shot at the NL Championship Series is tonight at 11:59 p.m. Supporters have until Oct. 12 at 11:59 p.m. to register for a chance to buy World Series tickets.
Fans will be randomly selected from the pool of registrants and notified by e-mail that they have an opportunity to buy postseason tickets. Those fans will have their shot at tickets only after season-ticket holders and fans with multi-game plans have the first crack.
Rockies spokesperson Jay Alves says the system is meant to ensure fairness.
“It is important to us that all of our fans have a fair and equal opportunity to purchase postseason tickets, and we feel the pre-registration process provides that,” he said in a news release. “Certainly the demand exceeds the supply, but every fan that registers their name at has the opportunity to be randomly selected.”
The Rockies say about 60,000 people registered to buy tickets for the division series.
