The Utes
Utah at Colorado State, 4 p.m. Saturday, The Mtn.
For the record: Utah is 3-1 coming off a bye week. A loss at Oregon isn’t looking so bad with the Ducks doing well since.
Streaking: Utah coach Kyle Whittingham’s teams are 4-0 coming off bye weeks.
Who’s hot: Running back Eddie Wide leads Utah with a 5.6 yard-per-carry average, moving him into the starting role.
Who’s not: Utah is the most penalized Mountain West Conference team, averaging 76.5 yards a game.
Key stat: Utah has used two place-kickers, Ben Vroman and Joe Phillips, to combine for 13-of-13 PATs.
FYI: CSU’s last win over Utah came in 2005, when the Utes were rebuilding after a BCS bowl. . . . The Utes used the week in part to restructure the running game after the loss of Matt Asiata to an ACL injury. Asiata was leading the MWC in rushing at 101 yards per game before the injury. . . . Ex-CSU defensive back Aaron Alford coaches Utah’s running backs. . . . Utes freshman backup quarterback Jordan Wynn originally committed to Colorado.
Coachspeak: “I don’t think it will change a whole lot.” — Utah coach Kyle Whittingham, on the running game transition from Asiata to Wide
