Many state government offices will be closed Friday for the second of four furlough days for thousands of state workers this year.

State offices were already set to be closed Monday in observance of Columbus Day.

Closed offices include state driver’s license offices, the Department of Public Health and Environment’s vital records office, state history museums and administrative offices for executive branch departments. About 15,500 employees will be furloughed.

State parks and Division of Wildlife service centers will be open. The State Patrol will be at full strength.

No closures are planned for the Department of Transportation’s traffic operations center, the state unemployment benefits office, state nursing homes or hospitals and care centers.

State courts, the state treasurer’s office, attorney general’s office, secretary of state’s office, and colleges and universities also are unaffected.
