FORT COLLINS — A second person accused of luring a 14-year-old girl to a house and sexually assaulting her in February won’t contest the charge.
Twenty-two-year-old John Carlos Garcia entered an Alford plea Friday, meaning he won’t contest the charge. Garcia told a judge that Garcia knows that unless he changes, “it’s an easy downhill slope to become a monster.”
Garcia faces five years in prison and 20 years of sex offender probation. Garcia also pleaded guilty to assaulting another inmate.
Police say the girl was lured to the house of a 15-year-old boy, where the boy, Garcia and another man assaulted her. The boy has already pleaded in the case, and auithorities say the third person is likely to reach a plea deal later this month.
