AURORA — In the past, Class 2A top-ranked Faith Christian had an easy time with Bishop Machebeuf. Saturday night at Aurora Public Schools Stadium wasn’t any different.

First, Brandon Roche found the end zone. Then Derek Lepore did. Richard Rush wasn’t going to be left out, either. When things were said and done, Faith Christian rolled to a 46-0 victory.

“Machebeuf is always tough. They’re always a tough opponent,” said Rush, who scored three first-half touchdowns. “It’s always a fun time to come out here and play. Our offensive line got some great blocks. We got great perimeter blocking on our outside game as well as our inside game.”

Not counting a 34-14 Faith win in 2007, the Eagles (6-0, 3-0 Flatirons) have outscored the Buffaloes 286-7 dating to 2004. Before the Buffaloes first got past midfield, Faith Christian was ahead 46-0 and the clock was running without stoppage.

Although the outcome was never in doubt, one doesn’t have to tell Faith coach Blair Hubbard what his team needed to work on as the Eagles march forward toward the playoffs.

“We talked today in our pregame about continuing to march on and do the little things we need to improve,” Hubbard said. “We need to make our offense and defense be ready at the end of the season and into the playoffs.”

The Buffaloes (2-4, 2-1) finished the game with just two first downs and 60 yards of offense while allowing 422 yards, including 258 on the ground.

“To be honest with you, we felt like we’d come out with something, a defensive scheme to stop them from getting outside,” Bishop Machebeuf coach Kevin McGinty said. “I don’t know. We didn’t execute it. They hooked us anyway. They got the ball outside. (But) they (the Buffaloes) didn’t quit. That’s what I asked them to do. They came out and battled throughout the whole game.”
