The Colorado Mammoth on Monday signed former University of Denver standout Alex Gajic and four other players to the National Lacrosse League team’s preseason roster. Gajic was the Mammoth’s No. 5 pick in the NLL draft.

The team also signed forward Chris Gill, defenseman Rich Catton and transition player Bryan Safarik, all veterans, along with draft pick Cliff Smith.

Colorado’s roster now has 27 players.

Eagles reduce roster.

The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League cut six players from their preseason roster: Tyler Barr, Jeff Bieber, Baylor Dieter, Derek Hansberry, Mike Nesdill and Clay Thoring.

The Eagles’ 22-player roster must be reduced again to 19 before Thursday at 2 p.m.

Steamboat set for team trials.

The U.S. Olympic Committee and U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association announced that Steamboat Springs will host the U.S Olympic freestyle and nordic combined team trials on Dec. 23-24.

CU, CSU golfers in tournament top 10.

Sebastian Heisele’s 5-under-par 66 in the second round moved the Colorado golfer to sixth place overall at 6-under 136 at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational men’s tournament in Fairfax, Calif. The Buffaloes are in third place in the team standings, and Colorado State is ninth.

Falcons soar in soccer.

Josh Rhynard scored two goals and also contributed an assist, leading the Air Force men’s soccer team to a 6-3 victory over Missouri-Kansas City in a nonconference game at the Cadet Soccer Stadium. It was the most goals scored by the Falcons since 2003. Air Force (5-3-1) also got a goal and an assist from Kyle Moses. UMKC dropped to 4-6-1.
