NEW HAVEN, Conn.—A bail hearing has been rescheduled in Connecticut for a Colorado man charged with molesting nine boys at a school he founded in Haiti for poor children.
Douglas Perlitz of Eagle, Colo., had been set to appear in New Haven federal court on Monday. He remains in custody after pleading not guilty earlier this month to charges alleging sexual conduct with minors.
The hearing has been continued to Oct. 28.
The former Fairfield County, Conn., resident is accused of abusing nine boys at the Project Pierre Toussaint school in Cap-Haitien. Prosecutors say Perlitz is a sexual predator and should remain behind bars because he is a danger to children.
Perlitz denies the allegations, and his lawyer says his client should be released from prison pending a trial.
