Sacramento, Calif.-based band needs to come back for a full show. This was the general consensus after their visit to a live-taping of the radio-interview program at the Boulder Theater on Saturday. Accompanied by musician , Cake played to a sold-out crowd with the usual members’ variety show-style antics. The group not only brought back favorites like “Stickshifts and Safety Belts,” but also played new material off their upcoming album — which is being laid down in their 100 percent solar-powered recording studio. The crowd gave the band a standing ovation — rare for e-town — and Cake finished with “Jolene,” off their self-released debut. — Nathan Rist
