SWAT officers have surrounded a home south of Lakewood this evening as a man with a gun has barricaded inside his home in the 11300 block of West Crestline Drive.
He has not been identified. The standoff began at about 5:30 p.m. when the man’s mother called authorities after the man fired a gun inside her home.
She and the man’s adult brother left the home, but the man has refused to come outside, said Jefferson County Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Jacki Kelley.
Negotiations with the man have been sporadic, she said.
A reverse emergency call told residents of 174 homes in the neighborhood between Lakewood and Ken Caryl to remain inside and stay away from windows, Kelley said.
