ST. PAUL, Minn.—Rhett Rakhshani scored twice, including an empty-netter with one second remaining, and Tyler Ruegsegger added a goal for Denver on Friday, leading the Pioneers to a 3-0 win over Minnesota in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

Ruegsegger scored on a rebound at 3:36 of the second period to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead. Rakhshani made it 2-0 on a low shot from the point under Minnesota goalie Alex Kangas’ pads for a 2-0 lead at 11:19.

Marc Cheverie had 30 saves to improve to 3-0 for the Pioneers, while Kangas turned away 31 for Minnesota.

The win is the 499th of coach George Gwozdecky’s career.
