Getting your player ready...

LINCOLN, Neb.—A 6-foot-11, 315-pound Brazilian center has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Nebraska next fall.

Coach Doc Sadler says Andre Almeida is as talented as he is big. He says Almeida has good hands and footwork and knows how to score.

A 2010 NJCAA Division preseason All-American, Almeida is the fifth international player to sign with the Cornhuskers under Sadler. Almeida is a native of Sao Paulo.

During his first season in the United States, Almeida led Arizona Western College to a 26-6 record in 2008-09. Almeida averaged 13.8 points over 32 games. He ranked first in the nation in field-goal percentage by hitting 71 percent (184-of-261) from the floor.
